| BusinessWire WiQuest First to Gain Modular Certification from the FCC for UWB Mini Card Reference DesignALLEN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WiQuest Communications, Inc., the leading ultrawideband solutions provider today announced that it received modular certification from the FCC on its Wireless USB embedded solution which includes WiQuest’s Mini Card reference design with multiple antenna options. WiQuest was the first Certified Wireless USB module to earn FCC certification for both outdoor and indoor use, reinforcing WiQuest’s time-to-market leadership. WiQuest has also recently received additional FCC approval which allows this card to be user installed – a significant cost and time-saving advantage for Original Equipment Manufacturers. “Being the first company with FCC modular certification for this important form factor gave WiQuest and our PC OEM customers a significant time-to-market and cost advantage,” said Rafi Bar, WiQuest senior vice president of software and hardware engineering. “WiQuest’s customers were able to introduce products that used the same radio and antenna combination within a short period of time and without the added development cost and time associated with obtaining individual FCC certifications.” Having obtained FCC modular certification streamlines the process for current and future WiQuest customers to gain FCC approval when multiple products based on this radio and antenna combination will be introduced. WiQuest’s customers directly benefit with lower product development costs and faster time-to-market. The Wireless USB Mini Card conforms to FCC Part 15 Section 15.519 for hand held UWB systems. Compliance with this section means that customers can build products for both indoor and outdoor use based on the WiQuest solution. The FCC certification assures consumers that WiQuest devices are approved for operation in the unlicensed 3.1 GHz to 4.8 GHz frequency band. WiQuest’s Wireless USB Mini Card reference design is shipping now in multiple consumer products from leading PC OEMs. WiQuest Complete Solutions Reference designs for Certified Wireless USB include WiQuest’s Wireless USB Adapter, 4-port Hub, Mini Card and Half Mini Card reference designs. WiQuest’s complete UWB solution is also the industry’s fastest, at greater than 1 Gbps. WiQuest reference designs for wireless digital video include the Wireless Docking® Station and Mini Card with WiDV®.
