Fan-less PCI Express Computer System with Core Duo Processor

With the MICROSPACE® -PC50 (MPC50), Swiss-based DIGITAL-LOGIC presents a totally silent and scalable computer system for high performance applications. The MPC50 is based on the Intel® Core™ Duo L7400 processor with a 2,048K L2 cache. It provides state-of-the-art features such as a 2x1.5GHz clock rate, a modular memory design of up to 2GB, a maximum two Terabyte hard disk capacity, and expandability via PCI Express. As chip set the Intel® 945GM is used. The CPU, power supply and both hard disks are separately cooled, each by a patented fan-free and totally silent cooling design. Typical applications are video streaming servers, extremely scalable PCI Express peripherals and robust, mobile multimedia computers.

The MPC50 provides standard interfaces such as seven USB 2.0, printer, COM1 and COM2 ports. In addition, it is equipped with a 10/100Base-T-Ethernet, a 1GB Ethernet and two Firewire IEEE1394 ports to access TCP/IP-based LAN or the Internet. The system uses a graphics controller which is integrated in the Intel 945GM chip set with up to 256MB video memory. The video controller supports hardware acceleration with DirectX9 and allows the independent operation of two different displays, QXGA and DVI, with resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels at 75Hz. Further technical specifications of the MPC50 are an AC97 2.3 compatible audio controller, line/microphone stereo input, SPDif in/output and a 7.1 sound jack. For mass storage, two SATA hard disks with up to 1TB capacity and DVD-R/W or CD-R/W drives are available. The functionality of the MPC50 can be expanded using either two internal 32-bit PCI Slots or two PCI Express slots, and a MiniPCI expansion slot; thus an optional WLAN module and media center remote receiver can also be integrated.

MPC50 runs with operating systems such as Windows® XP, Linux and VISTA. It has compact dimensions of 300mm x 280mm x 160mm (W x L x H) and an attractive design. Its aluminium case is CE/FCC-certified and IP40-protected as well as tested for shocks of up to 10G and vibrations of up to 1G. The 6kg lightweight computer is supplied by a voltage of 110V/220V and operates in the standard temperature range of +5°C to +50°C. As no fan is installed, the noise level is extremely low (<20dBA). The MPC50 is equipped with the latest low-consumption components, and uses power saving functions such as suspend/resume, soft off and instant on to ensure an environment-friendly and energy-efficient operation.
