Certified Wireless USB Products Arrive With WiQuest Silicon

ALLEN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WiQuest Communications, Inc., the leading fabless semiconductor company focused on the design and production of complete high-performance, ultrawideband silicon solutions, announced today that its WQST110/101 Certified Wireless USB silicon is being used by Dell and Lenovo in their latest notebook PC products. Dell’s Inspiron 1720 notebook and Lenovo’s ThinkPad T61/T61p 15.4-inch widescreen notebook are part of the very first wave of Wireless USB platform certifications awarded by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). Further Wireless USB embedded PCs, adapters and hubs, based on WiQuest certified silicon, are expected to be certified in the coming weeks.

Certified Wireless USB enables users to replace their USB cables and wirelessly connect to peripherals such as printers, hard drives, cameras, and other devices at high speeds. Wireless USB offers the freedom, mobility and ease-of-use that consumers have come to expect. The Certified Wireless USB logo assures the user that products they buy from different vendors will interoperate.

“Consumers have eagerly awaited the arrival of Certified Wireless USB products. WiQuest’s certified silicon has enabled leading PC companies to meet consumer demand and achieve certification for two noteworthy end-user products,” said Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF president. “These companies will lead the industry and establish the market for Certified Wireless USB connectivity.”

“WiQuest’s strategy to provide complete Wireless USB host and device solutions is why we are able to reach this key industry milestone first with such impressive partners,” said Dr. Matthew B. Shoemake, WiQuest founder, CEO and president. “WiQuest continues to work with these and other tier 1 companies to build the complete ecosystem for both aftermarket and embedded products, across multiple vertical markets, so that consumers are assured that the investment they make today is future-proof.”
