Arrow Electronics Offers Portable Applications Workshop

Seminar will feature Low Power Reference Platform for engineers and developers
throughout North America

MELVILLE, N.Y. – July, 9, 2007 – The North American Components (NAC) business of Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) today announced a new customer workshop series. The series will provide a hands-on, interactive lab experience for engineers designing complex systems in a low power environment for handheld and portable applications in the industrial, medical and multimedia consumer markets.

“Arrow’s Portable Applications Workshop will help customers get to market faster with real-world solutions for complex and power-sensitive embedded systems,” said David Doherty, vice president, Semiconductor Marketing, Arrow NAC. “We have worked very closely with our valued suppliers to develop an exciting and practical hands-on experience that will teach customers the latest hardware and software design techniques for maximum power savings.”

The Arrow Technical Solutions Forum (ATSF) Portable Applications Workshop, which begins July 17 and will be held in multiple cities throughout North America, features Altera Corporation’s new 65nm Cyclone® III field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and Linear Technology’s power management solutions for low power applications highlighted on a new Arrow-developed Low Power Reference Platform.

Key workshop topics will include:
• Charging and powering with Lithium Ion batteries
• Interfacing to low-power cellular RAM
• Investigating the impact of device selection and system power modules on overall performance
• Evaluating Arrow-developed intellectual property for the hibernation of FPGA-based embedded systems
Customers will receive their own Arrow Low Power Reference Platform at the workshop, which they can program and process designs during in-depth, hands-on training with technical experts, in addition to reference design documentation, sample code and software libraries. The cost of the workshop, including the Low Power Reference Platform, is $450.
