Symmetricom Purchases Advanced Video Technologies from Genista

- Extends Symmetricom's End-to-End Quality of Experience (QoE) Monitoring Solution for CSPs that are Deploying Triple and Quad Play Services

SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 14, 2007 - Symmetricom, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMM), whose mission is to accelerate the deployment, enable the management and assure the performance of next generation networks throughout the globe, today announced the purchase of certain technology assets from Genista Corporation. Genista is a privately held company in Singapore and Tokyo whose software-based technologies accurately determine the quality of real time video streams as delivered to end-user devices across both fixed and mobile networks. Demonstrating its previously announced intention to expand the company's presence in QoE assurance markets, Symmetricom will offer CSPs, systems integrators and content providers a broader and seamless set of performance-measurement tools to monitor the quality of IPTV, TV over IP, Video on Demand and other IP-based multimedia services.

"In order for service providers to ensure the delivery of high quality content and optimum service levels to their customers, and thus to protect their substantial investments in next generation networks, they must monitor service quality on a real time basis," commented David R. Ensuring a high quality experience for consumers of next generation triple/quad play services requires the assurance of both content integrity and the performance of high bandwidth, IP-based networks.

Dr. Stefan Winkler, who was chief scientist and a co-founder of Genista, will become the chief scientist of Symmetricom's QoE Assurance Division. Dr.
Winkler has been a professor at the National University of Singapore and the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. A world-renowned expert on perceptual video quality measurement, he has published more than 40 papers in this area and is the author of the book "Digital Video Quality: Vision Models and Metrics". Dr. Winkler has been a key contributor to the Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG) since receiving his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), where his thesis was entitled "Vision models and quality metrics for image processing applications". While at EPFL, Dr. Winkler was a key contributor to the development of the MPQM model of video analysis, upon which Symmetricom's V-FactorR is also based. In addition to co-founding Genista, he has held various positions at Siemens, Hewlett-Packard and Andersen Consulting.

This technology purchase builds upon prior activity by Symmetricom in the QoE assurance marketplace. In January 2007, Symmetricom announced the acquisition of QoSmetrics S.A., now integrated into Symmetricom's QoE Assurance Division, which provides QoE solutions for monitoring the performance of triple and quad play services.
