| BusinessWire EGT Unveils SPDr, the Latest Addition to Their ORCHESTRA Element ManagerSPDr Enables Remote Management and Monitoring of All EGT Headend Class Equipment Deployed over a Cable System Footprint ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EGT, providing the most comprehensive video processing technology for digital networks, today introduced the newest extension to their widely deployed element management system, ORCHESTRA™ SPDr. The SPDr enables expanded capability in remotely monitoring and managing any and all of EGT’s devices, including the Headend Micro (HEMi) edge video processors deployed at the edge of the cable system network, on the customer premise. The extension is installed through a simple software upgrade to existing ORCHESTRA element management systems, allowing cable operators to access virtually thousands of devices on a single management license. “With this software upgrade, EGT continues our practice of providing our customers with technology and support to make their jobs managing a digital network easier,” said John Hartung, Chief Technical Officer for EGT. “The SPDr Element Manager is able to effectively and efficiently manage HEMis deployed at any community or MDU complex, be it a hospital, military base, hotel or any other similar site at the edge of the video processing network.” From one location, SPDr’s auto-discovery feature automatically detects EGT devices both inside and outside the plant, all the way down to the edge of their footprint including the customer premise equipment. SPDr can configure, manage, monitor, upgrade, set customizable alarms or traps and enable or disable local channels from anywhere the headend technician chooses to log into the network. Unlike most active video processing components based in a headend, the remote deployment location of EGT’s HEMi usually requires a truck roll to the super-edge of the network where the device is housed. Remote monitoring gives the headend technician vital access and control over HEMi units from a centralized location, significantly reducing operational expenses due to onsite maintenance. About EGT Headquartered in Atlanta, EGT provides the most comprehensive video processing technology for digital networks, including today’s leading multiple system operators and telecommunications companies across the globe. With an employee base dominated by engineering PhD’s, the company’s patented technologies are changing the industry’s approach to architecting digital video encoding equipment. All of EGT’s video processors are multi-functional, flexible, and scalable, making EGT’s technology the ideal digital simulcast, VOD and IP TV solution available anywhere today. EGT’s ENCORE (premium MPEG-2 encoder with embedded cascade multiplexing and DPI) and HEMi (Head End Micro edge encoder) deliver the most powerful capabilities in programmable open platforms, allowing video service providers to leverage existing infrastructure to meet the needs of their rapidly changing video marketplace.
