| BusinessWire V.i. Labs Extends CodeArmor to Protect Software Applications in Collaborative and Outsourced Development EnvironmentsFor the First Time, Companies Can Share Software with Development Partners Without Exposing Valuable Intellectual Property to Potential Piracy, Competitive Theft and Tampering WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--V.i. Laboratories, Inc. (“V.i. Labs”), a provider of software protection solutions for securing high value and mission critical applications, announced new capabilities to its CodeArmor™ solution that protect valuable software intellectual property (IP) shared in collaborative development environments. CodeArmor now lets software vendors and others share core software applications with third parties who develop value-added extensions or application capabilities, without exposing sensitive software IP to piracy, competitive theft, and tampering. To protect source code and software IP during collaborative development, organizations have traditionally relied on mutual non-disclosure agreements, audits, secure file delivery, perimeter security, background checks and employee training. However, these passive protection approaches do not protect the software itself from theft and piracy threats. “Protecting source code during collaborative software development projects has been nearly impossible to date,” said Dr. David Pensak, V.i. Labs’ founder and CTO. “Vendors usually turn over their sensitive source code to third parties in good faith. CodeArmor’s new secure debugging functionality provides a layer of active protection not found in any other security solution. With CodeArmor, partners can develop on top of protected applications so that sensitive software functions are not exposed.” CodeArmor’s new secure debugging capability allows third parties to debug and develop without exposing a protected application. To access the secure debugger, developers authenticate via unique shared secrets or custom extensions that are defined in existing license enforcement systems. Once authenticated, CodeArmor lets developers access and debug their third party extensions but not the source code resident within the protected application. Software vendors and enterprises are expected to continue to exploit offshore software outsourcing to lower development costs, as well as leverage third party extensions to add value to their software platforms. As the market for offshore development continues to increase, so does the risk of software IP theft and piracy. CodeArmor’s new secure debugging capabilities allow software vendors and enterprise organizations to protect sensitive software IP in the following scenarios: * Development of third party extensions: Partners can develop and debug application extensions without having access to a software vendor’s code. CodeArmor ensures that only authenticated partners can access the secure debugger embedded in the protected application. Pricing and Availability CodeArmor with secure debugger support is available immediately and is priced at an annual subscription starting at $20,000 per application. About V.i. Laboratories (V.i.
