MontaVista Expands in Europe to Serve Growing Number of Companies That Accelerate Product Development with Its Embedded Linux Solutions

Additional Executives Appointed in Germany, Nordic Region and UK

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MontaVista® Software, Inc., the global leader in embedded Linux, has responded to the rise in the number of companies accelerating new product development with MontaVista solutions by continuing its aggressive expansion of European-based operations, opening new offices and significantly expanding its field operations team. These new executives will be based in Germany, the UK and Finland, where MontaVista is opening its sixth European office.

MontaVista’s latest investments in people and infrastructure follow its acquisition in April of two UK-based companies. The acquisitions and appointments expand MontaVista’s European sales team, enhance regional support services, and extend the embedded Linux design services the company offers to European companies, as well as increasing the resources dedicated to supporting MontaVista’s distribution channels.

These additions to the executive team come as developers in nearly every segment of the European embedded software industry increasingly recognize the ability of MontaVista to accelerate new product development and add functionality for telecoms, mobile communications providers, automotive manufacturers, industrial control and automation firms, and consumer electronics and medical electronics companies.

Leading the new appointments, John Phillips joins MontaVista as the new Vice President of Field Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Based in MontaVista’s EMEA headquarters in the UK, Phillips holds overall responsibility for sales and customer service in the EMEA region.

Phillips said: "I am delighted to be entrusted to take MontaVista’s EMEA business to the next level. With many millions of devices using MontaVista Linux, we are already the leader in the commercial distribution of embedded Linux. Our new regional executives ensure that we will continue to provide the highest level of quality and service to our European customers and partners."

Prior to joining MontaVista, Phillips was the European Software Sales Director for Global Accounts at EMC Corporation. He has more than 15 years of experience in the IT and telecoms industries.

At the same time, MontaVista has expanded its regional sales forces in key European territories. Jürgen Richter joins MontaVista as Regional Sales Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, based in MontaVista’s Munich office, while Iisko Lappalainen joins the Nordic region, based in Helsinki, strengthening the company’s technical sales capabilities.

Finally, Sou Bennani has been appointed to the role of Director of Business Development for EMEA. Bennani will manage MontaVista’s relationship with its community of European partners. MontaVista is directing additional resources to support semiconductor, middleware, and application partners, creating an ecosystem of products and services to meet growing customer demand for integrated Linux solutions that are tested, reliable, and ready to deploy.

"For many years, our European customers, partners, employees, and strategic investors have been evidence of MontaVista’s significant presence in Europe," said Tom Kelly, President and CEO of MontaVista. "Our new organizational expansions build on these established strengths to support growth for us and service for our customers and partners."
