Magillem Design Services and STMicroelectronics announce Partnership in ESL Solutions

Paris, France, May 28, 2007 – Magillem Design Services SAS and STMicroelectronics today announced that they have entered into a corporate agreement to deliver innovative solutions based on the IP-XACT schema from The SPIRIT Consortium.

ST Microelectronics, the largest semiconductors maker in Europe, with design centers all over the world, needed to facilitate a broad use of virtual platform assembly for multiple remote non-expert end users and enabling fast deployment of virtual components.

With Magillem graphical front end connected to the internal IP yellow pages, the learning curve of a new platform has been significantly shortened. Software end users get the exact representation of the hardware and can easily change the virtual component parameters they have access to.
STMicroelectronics, a founding member of The SPIRIT consortium, was looking for a software tool to encapsulate its existing ESL flow in the IP-XACT format, some ST specific data also had to be captured in the schema. Graphical representation of a dedicated platform had to be tuned to the ST guidelines.
With the help of the Magillem IDE, all the steps of the flow have been encapsulated in a standard IP-XACT format. The representation of the platform and the dedicated flow monitoring meet the company requirements.

“Designers at STM now have the capability to run the software with a minimal effort, at every build and compilation steps. All IP and Platform parameters are accessible without HDL or SystemC expertise. The state-of-the-art TLM flow of STMicroelectronics is one of the most advanced ones and we are proud to display this powerful integration in our user friendly, easy to learn graphical front end”, says Cyril Spasevski, CTO of Magillem Design Services.

“The IP-XACT framework developed by MDS enables us to integrate all our system platform technologies into a consistent environment, providing a simpler, more automated flow to hardware architects and verification engineers. Feedback from first users is very positive and we expect to deploy the solution throughout the year“says Frank Ghenassia, Director of system platform group at STMicroelectronics.

About Magillem Design Services (MDS)
Magillem IDE is the pioneer IP-XACT tool suite providing to systems designers an integrated development environment to create and configure platforms. MDS helps its clients to audit their own design process, to customize the Magillem software and to adapt it to their flow requirements. MDS customizes its software to implement client specific generators and to support them during the flow integration.
MDS’ clients are semiconductors manufacturers (Asics, Assps), system integrators and information technology companies engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture and integration of advanced technology systems, products and services (using Asics and FPGAs).
All along the six year development process of the Magillem software, MDS’ engineers have embraced their clients’ needs and inputs to come up with a product really adapted to the expectations of the most demanding players in the industry.
Magillem Design Services business model gives its clients flexibility, independence and protects their investment, while offering a reliable service and widely available support.
The company is headquartered in Paris, France, Magillem Design Software, Corp, the US subsidiary, with facilities in New York, covers sales and marketing in America and Asia. Magillem Design Services is a member of the EDA Consortium and a Contributing Member in the ESL Working Group of The SPIRIT Consortium.

About STMicroelectronics
Since its formation in 1987, by the merger of SGS Microelettronica of Italy and Thomson Semiconducteurs of France ST has grown faster than the semiconductor industry as a whole and it has been one of the world’s Top Ten semiconductor suppliers since 1999.
Today, an unrivalled combination of silicon and system expertise, manufacturing strength, Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio, industrial and academic partnerships, and one of the industry’s broadest product ranges makes ST a world leader in developing and delivering semiconductor solutions across the spectrum of microelectronics applications.
ST is one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies, with net revenues of US$9.85 billion in 2006 and market leadership that is spread across many fields. For example, according to the latest industry data, ST is the world’s fifth largest semiconductor company and has leading positions in sales of Analog Products, Analog Application Specific Integrated Circuits and Analog Application Specific Standard Products. ST is also number one in camera modules for mobile phones, number two in discrete and analog, and number three in NOR Flash, as well as in the application segments of Automotive, Industrial, and Wireless. ST is also the leading supplier of semiconductors for set-top boxes and power management devices. Furthermore, ST was the 3rd biggest semiconductor supplier in China in 2005.
