Kyocera Wireless Meets Sarbanes-Oxley Requirements and Improves Business Processes Using LogicalApps

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LogicalApps™, the provider of embedded governance software for enterprise applications, today announced that Kyocera Wireless, a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, is using components of the LogicalApps ACTIVE Governance™ solution to successfully meet its Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and improve business process efficiency. By embedding controls for governance, risk and compliance (GRC) directly into its ERP system, Kyocera Wireless has reduced Segregation of Duties (SOD) conflicts by over 99% and in a fraction of the time it would have taken to do so manually.

“Without LogicalApps, our project to attain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for systematic Segregation of Duties would have taken multiple man years,” said Mark Shields, director of Information Technology at Kyocera Wireless Corp. “In addition, LogicalApps has helped us turn a difficult Sarbanes-Oxley requirement into an opportunity to improve our business processes and become a more efficient organization.”

Kyocera Wireless has a robust ERP environment consisting of ninety Oracle modules and 800 concurrent users running on one production instance. A cross-functional steering committee comprised of both IT and Finance was charged with evaluating control automation solutions from competing vendors. Based on superior product functionality, domain expertise with Oracle Applications, a comprehensive technology vision and pre-packaged automated controls that reflect industry best practices, the committee selected LogicalApps.

“We developed an embedded governance approach to GRC because no other method can offer the efficiencies, granular control, and integrity of results that we’ve been able to deliver with ACTIVE Governance,” said Chris Capdevila, founder and senior vice president of strategy and corporate development at LogicalApps. “It’s rewarding to see forward-thinking companies such as Kyocera Wireless transition their compliance initiatives from tactical projects to strategic programs using embedded governance, which brings far greater business value and return on their investment.”

ACTIVE Governance™ is the first solution to embed controls for governance, risk and compliance (GRC) directly into the ERP system. More than simply documenting and monitoring of controls, ACTIVE Governance prevents control violations from happening by automatically enforcing governance policies in real time. By managing user access, data and configuration changes, and providing continuous monitoring of transactions, ACTIVE Governance streamlines GRC processes resulting in greater efficiency and improved financial integrity. Through the recent acquisition of the Integra™ product line from Applimation™, LogicalApps is enhancing the ACTIVE Governance solution with additional configuration management and automated controls for PeopleSoft, creating the industry’s most robust and flexible embedded governance solution across the enterprise.
