| BusinessWire ESI Introduces Model 9830HD, the Latest Addition to the Memory Repair Product LinePORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq:ESIO), a leading provider of world-class photonics and laser systems for microengineering applications, today introduced the Model 9830HD, the newest member of its family of link processing and yield improvement systems. ESI's Model 9830HD increases throughput, improves resolution, and boosts yields for NAND FLASH, DRAMs, SRAMs, embedded memory devices and other laser-fuse applications on 90nm and 70nm by utilizing advanced optics and beam positioning designs. The Model 9830HD offers significant enhancements over previous generation systems. It utilizes a new 100Khz, 1.0um wavelength laser, resulting in increased throughput of up to 50 percent when compared to previous generations of the Model 9830 platform. The Model 9830HD also benefits from ESI's new digital architecture, a feature which can be implemented on future memory repair processing systems. The revolutionary digital architecture utilizes a new Digital Pulse Detector Module, enabling a very accurate pulse monitoring capability at exceptionally high repetition rates and low pulse energies. This allow for a very high accurate energy delivery to smaller link geometries, which improves yields and throughput. The benefit of these new design features is being recognized by one of the largest DRAM manufacturers in Korea, who recently placed a multiple system order for 9830HD systems. “ESI continues to outpace the industry's technology roadmap. The adoption of the latest model of our 9800 family of products at such an early stage clearly demonstrates the superior value that our products deliver, and the trust that our customers place in ESI's proven solutions,” said Nick Konidaris, ESI president and CEO. About ESI, Inc. ESI is a pioneer and leading supplier of world-class production laser systems that help its microelectronics customers achieve compelling yield and productivity gains. The company's industry-leading, application-specific products enhance electronic-device performance in three key sectors — semiconductors, components and electronic interconnect — by enabling precision fine-tuning of device microfeatures in high-volume manufacturing environments. Founded in 1944, ESI is headquartered in Portland, Ore. More information is available at www.esi.com.
