AMCC Showcases a Complete Portfolio of SFP+ PHYs at OFC 2007

Demonstrations Include Both Fiber and Copper Links for 10 GbE and SONET/SDH Applications
OFC/NFOEC 2007
Booth #1007

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ:AMCC), the leading supplier in 10 Gbps Ethernet PHY ICs, announced today that it will demonstrate its comprehensive product line for the emerging SFP+ pluggable optical module standard at the OFC/NFOEC Technical Conference and Exposition in Anaheim, California. The demonstrations will take place in AMCC booth #1007 as well as in the booths of various AMCC SFP+ optical module partners.

The demonstrations showcase three AMCC products for SFP+ applications: the QT2035S, the industry’s first SFI-to-XAUI PHY with EDC; the QT1215, the industry’s first dual XFI-to-SFI PHY with EDC; and the S19252, the world’s first SFI-4 to SFI transceiver for SONET/SDH/OTN and Metro-Ethernet applications.

The 10GBASE-LRM demonstration is based on a 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch reference design with Fulcrum Microsystems®. The joint reference design combines Fulcrum’s FocalPoint® FM2224 10-Gigabit Ethernet switch chip with the QT2035S and SFP+ optical modules. The combination of the Fulcrum and AMCC products shows the highest density and highest performance 10GE switching solution available on the market today.

AMCC will also demonstrate a 10 meter copper link using low-cost Infiniband 1x twin-axial cable. The QT2035S’s highly sophisticated SFI receiver and transmitter are used to equalize the impairments over this inexpensive medium, providing a more cost-effective and elegant alternative to CX4 cabling for data center and stacking applications. A demonstration of SFP+ 10GBASE-SR optics will also be featured with the QT2035S.

“AMCC provides complete coverage for all SFP+ applications from LAN to Metro to Wide Area Networks,” said Mitch Kahn, vice president of marketing, transport products for AMCC. “No other vendor offers the breadth of product line and experience in the SFP+ interface device market.”
