Datang Microelectronics Technologies’ Co. Ltd. (DMT) is a leading chip manufacturer in China, and has selected Comsys’ GSM/GPRS full Layer 1 software baseband IP platform for its COMIP PRO cellular baseband product line. The DMT processor supports TD-SCDMA, GSM and GPRS standards, and the combined solution enables handset manufacturers using the COMIP PRO to design multi-standard handsets supporting the complete range of GSM technologies. The live demonstration on the Comsys stand (number 2B73 in Hall 2) at 3GSM will show a GSM/GPRS live network session with a Datang COMIP PRO baseband chip that has been designed using the Comsys physical layer (PHY). EGGware has already been implemented in both the COMIP and COMIP PRO chips, enabling the chip to address the entire range of handsets from entry-level to high-end models. There is also a defined roadmap for these designs to be upgraded to EDGE by incorporating Comsys EGPRS core technology into COMIP PRO. “Our demonstration at 3GSM will show the modular architecture of the EGGware-powered COMIP PRO for both voice and data applications,” said Ronny Gorlicki, Executive VP Sales at Comsys. “We are very pleased that Datang chose Comsys EGGware IP to expand their application coverage on the COMIP and COMIP PRO”. “The COMIP PRO baseband chipset has already been integrated with RF front ends by several leading RF transceiver vendors, and the Comsys PHY in combination with our innovative chip design allows us to offer a world class solution to handset vendors,” added Dr. Liu Dijun, Vice President of Datang Microelectronics Technology. GSM-based networks account for the largest proportion of mobile phone users in China today, with a current subscriber base of over 400 million. DMT Contact: About Comsys About DMT
