Language Weaver Ships Version 4.2, Adds Multiple Function Upgrades and Offers New Licensing Option for Newest Version of Automated Translation Software

Polish and Czech Translation Software Modules Released Simultaneously

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Language Weaver, a leading software company developing enterprise software for the automated translation of human languages, today announced the newest upgrade version of its statistical machine translation software, SMTS version 4.2. This version provides better support for existing translation workflow processes. New features and a trademarked extensible formatting process are introduced as well as two new bidirectional language modules. In addition, the company is offering a new licensing model to support smaller businesses and government organizations requiring fewer translations.

Improved Functionality for Translation Workflow

To meet the needs of translation service providers and to increase workflow productivity, Language Weaver has added the following features:

X-Class™ – new patent-pending technology that helps to normalize the parallel training data to get better performance from the customization process. X-Class provides a way for the user to control how the translation software handles xml tags. For example, the user can use xml tags to turn translation on and off within a document, control segmenting, or preserve spacing.
TMX output – this Translation Memory eXchange format is a vendor-neutral open xml standard that was developed by the translation and localization industry. TMX output allows translations to be easily post-edited, uploaded to translation memory software, or edited and added back to the Language Weaver software for training.
Capitalization enhancements – European languages display improved capitalization of proper nouns, and product and person names, among others.

New Functionality

In addition to translating html, pdf, and text documents, version 4.2 contains an embedded filter that allows users to translate Microsoft Office documents, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with output delivered in the original program file format.

Improved Customizer Capability

With the 4.2 release, Language Weaver is increasing the number of words that can be submitted to the Customizer tool from 500,000 to 2 million words so that users can create more robust, customized systems in-house.

New Languages

Simultaneously, Language Weaver is introducing two new bidirectional language pairs: Polish <> English and Czech <> English. As with every Language Weaver translation software release, translation output quality improves across language pairs and customization capabilities are supported.

New License Option

For organizations that translate a lower volume of words but need multiple language options, Language Weaver has added a pay-per-use licensing model. This license allows organizations to purchase translation capability by word in 100,000-word increments. The purchase can be applied to one language or several languages in a package. Once the number of purchased words is reached, additional blocks of 100,000 words can be purchased and programmed remotely on quick turnaround.

Daniel Marcu, founder and CTO at Language Weaver, said, “As with previous releases, we are responding to our customers’ requests. As automated translation software becomes increasingly used for dissemination of information, not just assimilation of concepts, we have added functions that will make it easier for our software to integrate with other companies’ existing processes and workflows, expand their customization capabilities, and provide flexibility.”

SMTS v4.2 runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, and XP, including x64 editions, and supports all Language Weaver language pair modules. Translation output can be customized for the user’s domain or corporate style.

Language Weaver pioneered the integration of statistical methodology into the first production translation systems and is the only supplier in the market with commercially available SMT software. Language Weaver continues to innovate and pioneer new translation technologies, which return greater accuracy, more natural language processing, and high value business applications, improving business and cultural relations while saving time and money.
