Design Automation Conference Announces Executive CommitteeBOULDER, Colo., Nov. 27, 2006 – The Design Automation Conference (DAC), the electronic design automation (EDA) industry’s premier event, today announced its Executive Committee for the 44th DAC, which will be held June 4 – 8, 2007 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. The completely volunteer committee, made up of representatives from the electronics and EDA industries and academia, is responsible for planning the technical program, overseeing the exhibition, establishing new initiatives and managing operations and publicity for the conference. Steven P. Levitan will serve as general chair and provide direction for the 44th DAC Executive Committee. Levitan is the John A. Jurenko Professor of Computer Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh with a joint appointment in the Department of Computer Science. His research at the University of Pittsburgh includes the design, modeling, simulation and verification of mixed technology micro-systems, including sensing, computing and communications functions. Levitan received a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Case Western University and master of science and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has also served as chair of ACM Special Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA) and has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Design Automation Conference since 1998. Levitan was also awarded the Best Paper at the 34th IEEE/ACM Design Automation Conference, in Design Methodology. He received the ACM/SIGDA Service Award in appreciation for Contributions to ACM/SIGDA in 2005 and the ACM/SIGDA Distinguished Service Award recognizing over a decade of service to ACM/SIGDA and the EDA industry in 2002. “This year’s Executive Committee is already hard at work ensuring that the 44th DAC will provide invaluable learning and networking opportunities for the global electronic design community,” said Levitan. “With the combined energy, expertise and experience of this remarkable group of volunteers driving it, we are looking forward to a very strong conference in San Diego next June.” Dr. Levitan is joined by: Vice/Finance Chair, Limor Fix, Intel Research Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa.
