Jaluna Announces Commitment to Eclipse Foundation; Eclipse-Based Tools to Accelerate Adoption of Virtualization Technology by Embedded Software Developers

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2006--Jaluna Inc., the global leader in virtual infrastructure software for connected devices, today announced that it is now a member of the Eclipse Foundation, an open source community committed to the implementation of a universal development platform. As an Eclipse Add-in Provider, Jaluna will develop a tool suite for its virtualization software based on the Eclipse platform, making virtualization technology easily adopted by thousands of embedded software developers familiar with the Eclipse environment. The Eclipse tool suite will be previewed and demonstrated at the Embedded System Conference in San Jose, Calif., April 3-7, 2006 (TI Pavilion booth #1220).

"We are delighted to have Jaluna joining Eclipse and bringing their expertise in virtualization technology to the table," said Mike Milinkovich, executive director, Eclipse Foundation. "The device realm is teeming with software-driven innovation, and we are looking forward to their participation in Eclipse projects and contribution to expanding the Eclipse ecosystem."

Jaluna OSware(TM) provides concurrent support for rich operating systems such as Linux and proprietary or commercial real-time operating systems (RTOSs) to enable a flexible architecture for embedded products. Companies can successfully evolve with the changing market, because virtualization software yields lower bill of materials and development costs, enhanced preservation of intellectual property and a faster time-to-market. Jaluna OSware, Linux Edition is designed for products requiring the full functionality of Linux combined with the pre-ported stacks, or real-time performance of RTOS solutions.

"Eclipse has become the development platform of choice because it provides such a rich, extensible and interoperable foundation," said Mark Milligan, vice president of marketing and business development, Jaluna. "In joining the Eclipse Foundation, Jaluna will continue to provide software that enables the operating system independence required to deliver a broad spectrum of implementations, while improving usability and ensuring interoperability with other Eclipse-based software components."

The Jaluna development environment integrating configuration and monitoring tools based on Eclipse will make its debut in Q3 of 2006.
