Airbee Announces New OS for Low Power RF Mesh Applications

ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2006--Airbee Wireless, Inc. (OTC Other:ABEW), an industry innovator of low power RF software solutions. Today announced a new product that will enable low power RF mesh applications such as ZigBee and other mesh networks. The new application is called Airbee-OS. Airbee-OS is a platform independent task based Real Time Operating System (RTOS) suitable for embedded applications where code space comes at a premium. The operating system is optimized for very small footprint and occupies less than one (1) kilobytes of ROM. The priority based pre-emptive context switching scheduler based OS uses the resources of the microcontrollers optimally to deliver a powerful yet economical solution for application developments on embedded systems.

The Airbee-OS can support a maximum of 16 tasks. The user sets the priority for execution of a task. The OS executes the highest priority task that is ready for execution. The idle time task gets the least priority.

The inter task messaging is done through a mailbox concept. An event in a task posts a message for other tasks in the mailbox. After switching to a new task the mailbox is accessed to retrieve the posted messages.

There are many tiny OS products on the market but few if any have been exclusively designed for low power RF mesh networks. This breakthrough approach is going to be critical for low-cost mesh networks such as ZigBee and UWB. Airbee has developed ZigBee and other low power RF mesh software technology and has productized it as Airbee-ZNS ZigBee stack and several applications. The Airbee ZNS stack has been certified by the ZigBee Alliance on a Chipcon/Atmel platform to the release level 1.0 specification. Airbee is currently working other platforms such TI's MSP430. Airbee has the ability to develop applications on both multi-vendor and single vendor platform solutions.
