Stellent Releases Version 8.1 of Outside In Content Transformation Technology; New Version is Faster and More Robust

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2006--
Includes New File Identification SDK; Enables Programmatic Annotation of Converted Output; and Supports New File Formats and Platforms across All Outside In SDKs

Stellent, Inc's. (Nasdaq:STEL) Content Components Division, the industry's leading provider of component technologies for managing, viewing and transforming unstructured data, announced today the release of Stellent(R) Outside In(R) Technology version 8.1.

Stellent Outside In Technology enhances hundreds of software applications -- such as enterprise content management, search, email management, security, compliance, data forensics, litigation support, e-discovery and portals -- from the world's leading technology companies. These companies use the Outside In software development kits (SDKs) to identify files, extract text and metadata, provide a high-fidelity view of file contents, and convert files into any one of 11 output formats -- all without reliance on native applications.

Outside In Version 8.1 is a new release of the entire suite of Outside In products: Outside In File ID, Outside In Viewer Technology, Outside In Content Access, Outside In Search Export, Outside In HTML Export, Outside In XML Export, Outside In Image Export and Outside In Transformation Server. The new release features performance improvements, new and enhanced file format support, and support for the latest operating system versions. Additionally, it leverages the interoperability between the products to enable programmatic annotation of converted output.

"Outside In Technology 8.1 responds to a number of specific customer requests including extraction of metadata from multimedia files, enhanced handling of email message stores, and the addition of a separate file identification SDK," said Bob Mahoney, vice president of sales and marketing for Stellent's Content Components Division. "We believe this release will be particularly well-received by our customers and prospects serving the e-discovery, data forensics, security and compliance markets."

"We continue to make good progress to reduce processing time," said Doug Markey, vice president of engineering for Stellent's Content Components Division. "Depending on the SDK and operating system, our customers can expect up to a 50 percent increase in performance with this release, which is critical given the massive amounts of data they're called upon to process."

"This new version of Stellent Outside In Technology shows significant performance gains over the previous version," said Sudhakar Ravi, founder and chief technology officer for Code Green Networks. "As a core software component of Code Green's Content Inspection Appliance, Outside In Technology's processing speed is absolutely critical for our enterprise customers who look to us to protect their organization's sensitive content. We are very pleased with this release and our partnership with Stellent."

New Stellent Outside In File ID SDK

Stellent Outside In version 8.1 includes a new SDK -- Outside In File ID -- which employs a proprietary algorithm to identify file types without using unreliable file extensions or mime types. The ability to accurately identify files is critical in data forensics, security, compliance and any application that needs to route files through workflow based on their type.

Support for New File Formats and Platforms

Version 8.1 of Stellent Outside In Technology supports four new formats, adds support for new versions of nine additional formats and offers enhancements to filters supporting 30 formats. With this release, Outside In Technology now supports more than 390 file formats, the broadest coverage available in the market.

All supported operating systems have been updated to the latest versions, and Outside In Content Access has been ported to FreeBSD.

Additional Key 8.1 Features and Benefits by SDK

The Stellent Outside In version 8.1 release offers the following additional key features and functionality:

-- Search Export -- new PageML output schema provides fast and accurate page counts and text locations; "metadata only" mode extracts document properties to build metadata repositories or quickly flag key documents for further processing.

-- HTML Export -- embedded cascading style sheets (CSS) simplify file management by allowing a style sheet to be embedded within the converted HTML; when used in combination with Content Access or Search Export, SearchML annotations can now be programmatically added, providing the ability to highlight, insert, replace or delete text in the HTML output. Additionally, HTML Export provides the ability to create links or bookmarks to the annotations.

-- XML Export -- improved representation of PDF files in the FlexionDoc schema and support for conversion of embedded files allows more accurate XML post-processing.

-- Viewer Technology -- anti-aliasing option on resized raster (bitmap) images improves fidelity of highly detailed images at lower resolutions.

-- Image Export -- when used in combination with Content Access or Search Export, SearchML annotations can now be programmatically added, providing the ability to highlight, insert, replace or delete text in the image output.

-- Transformation Server -- new graphical user interface to manage option files expedites implementation.
