ThingMagic's Mercury All-in Solution Enables Large Scale RFID Deployments; Rugged, Durable, Lightweight Reader Stand Dramatically Speeds Setup of RFID

GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 2006--ThingMagic, Inc. (www.thingmagic.com), a leading developer of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, today announced it is shipping the Mercury All-In Solution. The rugged, durable, lightweight reader stand enables users to quickly deploy large numbers of RFID readers and antennas. The Mercury All-In Solution includes a Mercury4 RFID reader integrated with two or four RFID antennas. The stand is on display in ThingMagic Booth #223 here at the RFID World conference this week.

"The Mercury All-In Solution was developed following feedback from some of the world's largest users of RFID," said Kevin Ashton, ThingMagic vice president, Marketing. "The more we looked into demand for a low cost, integrated RFID stand, the more we realized this solved a number of issues. For businesses adopting large-scale RFID systems with hundreds of RFID readers, there's no faster way to setup the readers and antennas -- it literally takes minutes to install."

The Mercury All-In Solution features:

-- An EPC Global Generation 2 Certified Mercury4 RFID reader;

-- two or four RFID reader antennas, depending on user requirements;

-- two coaxial cable connectors;

-- cables and power supply; and

-- dual floor or wall mounts, for fast, secure installation.

ThingMagic's Mercury4 RFID reader platform, the only reader that can claim to read any RFID tag, is designed with a unique Software Defined Radio architecture. It is certified by EPCglobal and MET Labs for all three Generation 2 RFID modes, including the complex Dense Reader mode. As a result, this innovative architecture allows Mercury4 readers to be easily and remotely updated for any future Generation 2 variants and other new RFID standards, ensuring that customers will always have the latest RFID technology available.

Mercury All-In Solution recommended pricing begins at $3,800 for a single Mercury4 reader unit, with volume discounts available. It is available from ThingMagic partners AbeTech, Accu-Sort, Acsis, Creek Systems, BuyRFID, CIT, Conectag, Fujitsu, IconNicholson, Omron, Quest Solutions, RFID Global Solutions, Rush Tracking, SONTEC, Tyco Fire & Security, Ubi-Tech, and Venture Research.
