Actel Wins IEC DesignVision Award at DesignCon 2006

Company's New Fusion PSCs Honored as Unique Semiconductor Product

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Actel Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTL) today announced that its Actel Fusion(TM) Programmable System Chip (PSC), the industry's first mixed-signal field-programmable gate array (FPGA), was named the winner of the International Engineering Consortium's DesignVision award in the category of Semiconductors and ICs. An industry panel, sponsored by the IEC, selected the Actel Fusion PSCs based on multiple criteria, including innovation, uniqueness, market impact and customer benefits. The Actel Fusion devices enable designers to quickly move from concept to completed design and deliver feature-rich systems to market with its unprecedented integration of mixed-signal analog, embedded flash memory and FPGA fabric in a single-chip PSC.

"Amongst hundreds of nominated semiconductor products, we are honored that our Actel Fusion PSC product has been recognized as innovative in the industry," said John East, president and CEO, Actel. "Actel takes seriously the opportunity to help customers not only meet their specific design requirements, but also bring the benefits of programmable logic to application areas that have traditionally been served by costly and space-consuming discrete analog components or mixed-signal ASIC solutions."

Actel Fusion Programmable System Chips

The Actel Fusion family offers the unprecedented integration of programmable analog, up to 8Mbits of high-performance flash memory, and up to 1.5M system gates of in-system programmable (ISP) FPGA fabric in a monolithic PSC. Extending the core benefits of the company's single-chip flash FPGA technology -- live at power-up (LAPU), low power consumption, design security, firm-error immunity and low total system cost -- the Actel Fusion devices provide an excellent alternative to costly and space- and time-consuming mixed-signal ASIC design. Further, with the integration of core analog blocks, the new Actel Fusion PSCs are well suited for applications in the industrial, medical, military/aerospace, communications, consumer and automotive markets.
