SigmaTel Launches Complete Controller Solution for the Color Laser Printer Market; STDC3000 is a Scalable System on Chip Solution for High End Imaging Systems

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2006--SigmaTel, Inc. (NASDAQ:SGTL), a leader in mixed-signal multimedia semiconductors, today launched the new STDC3000, a complete controller solution for color laser printers and multi-function printers (MFPs). A highly integrated and scalable System on Chip (SoC) solution, the STDC3000 provides designers and manufacturers with a lower bill-of-material (BOM) cost and high image quality for printing and copying. The STDC3000 SoC is comprised of high performance hardware image processing accelerators and Codecs, high-bandwidth system I/Os, and a 32-bit microprocessor. The STDC3000 is the first MFP solution introduced by SigmaTel since its acquisition of Oasis Semiconductor in September 2005.

The STDC3000 enables tandem color laser printing up to 40 pages per minute (4-bit contone) and ADF multi-page color copying up to 20 pages per minute. Providing industry-leading image quality for color laser printing, copying, and photo printing, the STDC3000 supports high performance interfaces and comes standard with a 33/66MHz PCI Bus and USB 2.0 high speed device and host ports. For higher-end MFP applications, the STDC3000 offers the ability to connect two processors together for increased system functionality and performance.

To help reduce customer's time to market, SigmaTel will develop a software development kit (SDK) for the STDC3000 bundled with its extensive library of laser MFP firmware technology. SigmaTel will also offer a complete set of host software solutions for color laser MFPs.
