ASSET(R) Works to Include System-Level Boundary-Scan Test into the MicroTCA Spec; As First Boundary-Scan Company in PICMG, ASSET Defines JTAG's Implementation in Industry Standard RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2005--By being the first boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1/JTAG) company to join the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), ASSET InterTech, Inc. (www.asset-intertech.com) is helping to define a system-level JTAG architecture as part of the Micro Telecom Computing Architecture (MicroTCA) standard. Many telecommunications equipment manufacturers are turning to boundary-scan as a test and diagnostic technology for entire systems. ASSET is an international leader in boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1/JTAG) test and in-system programming (ISP). Its ScanWorks(R) boundary-scan system has advanced system-level capabilities and has been adopted extensively in the telecommunications industry by companies such as Lucent Technologies, Ericsson, Alcatel, Cisco and others. "Early on the MicroTCA committee realized the critical importance of including an embedded test methodology in the standard," said Mike Franco, chairman of the PICMG MicroTCA committee and president of Signal Stream Technologies, LLC, Madison, WI. "We knew that ASSET is an expert in remote system-level JTAG test deployment, so we are very excited that they have joined our committee." ASSET has joined PICMG's MicroTCA standards committee and also is consulting with the Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) committee. AdvancedTCA is being implemented in next-generation carrier-grade communications equipment, as well as in military/aerospace, medical, and enterprise computing applications. "As the leading boundary-scan supplier to the telecommunications industry, we believe it is imperative for us to invest our time and effort into standard-setting activities such as this," said Alan Sguigna, vice president of sales and marketing for ASSET. ASSET has been an industry leader in implementing boundary-scan at the level of an entire system. Its ScanWorks system has enhanced system-level capabilities such as support for embedded JTAG controllers, software conversion into compact binary formats and support for the JEDEC standard embedded control language, STAPL, which is deployed in system-level applications. About ASSET InterTech ASSET InterTech, Inc. develops, markets, sells, and supports boundary-scan testability and in-system programming (ISP) products worldwide. ASSET's affordable ScanWorks(R) environment is easy yet powerful. For product information, call toll free 888-694-6250, send faxes to 972-437-2826 or direct e-mail to sales@asset-intertech.com.
