Vidiator Announces Acquisition of Nextreaming Platform Division; The Acquisition Enables a Broader Range of Vidiator Products and Support Worldwide

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2005--Vidiator(R) Technology (US) Inc., a world leader in multimedia content delivery software and solutions for mobile, announced the acquisition of the assets and engineering talents of Nextreaming's Platform Division from Nextreaming Corp., effective immediately. The assets include the following intellectual property: Xenon2, Xenon(TM), NexEncoder encoders; Nextreamer, NexCaster, and NexGate streaming solutions; and others. The transaction will strengthen Vidiator's global presence with more resources in research and development and global support and services.

"Korea is the most advanced wireless marketplace in the world and I see a great value in combining the technologies, innovation and invention for 3GPP and 3GPP2 customers. This initiative will benefit not only our customers, but also our partners, all of whom have been asking us to offer entry and enterprise-grade products. The combination is a natural fit," said Connie Wong, CEO of Vidiator.

By combining the Vidiator and Nextreaming server portfolios, customers will have the opportunity to benefit from the joint technologies, including the strong support of streaming, encoding, transcoding and trancoding between MMSC. The Vidiator streaming platforms now offer the support of multiple operating systems -- including Linux, Solaris and Microsoft Windows -- and can run as clustered or single server systems for mobile TV, live broadcasting and media-on-demand. The combined engineering resources will continue their aggressive roadmap in research and development.

Nextreaming will concentrate on reinforcing and specializing embedded software and solutions on multimedia handsets. Moreover, Nextreaming will make efforts to cope with sharply increasing demands from overseas chip makers and handset manufacturers, who highly appreciate and rely on Nextreaming's advanced and accumulated expertise and cutting-edge technologies such as H.264, AAC+, and mobile TV.

"The combination of Vidiator and the Nextreaming platform technologies, expertise and intellectual properties as well as the financial stability of Vidiator will accelerate product development to ensure our customers' continuing success in mobile media streaming, encoding and transcoding capabilities. This is a mutually beneficial decision that will allow Nextreaming to more profoundly focus on delivering overseas customers the market-proven technologies in embedded multimedia solutions. Nextreaming has gained a dominant position in the Korean multimedia handset market with customers such as Samsung, SKY Teletech, Motorola, and Curitel for years," said Dr. Il-Taek Lim, CEO of Nextreaming.
